# What is Glaxior made of?

## An overview of the materials that make up the Glaxior system.

** Aluminium **

All Glaxior aluminium profiles are made from 6063 aluminium — an alloy of aluminium, magnesium and silicon particularly common in architectural applications. 

Why this material?

1.  High wear resistance
2.  Smooth & silent movement
3.  Excellent long-term durability

**Glass**

High-strength toughened glass, designed to maximise light intake without compromising the system’s safety. This glass is 10 times stronger than standard glass. It complies with the CTE impact and breakage tests.

2.  Maximises natural light
3.  CTE impact & breakage compliant

**Components**

The system’s internal parts (rails, hinges and moving components) are made from polyamide, a technical material used in engineering.
